A look into the lives of our Community Creatives

What inspired you to venture into modeling?

My experience with modeling is still in its infant stages but slowly developing! I first considered venturing into modeling when a friend recommended me to model for a local athletic apparel company in Vancouver. Then, NimbleMade approached me and asked if I'd model for their dress shirts. The positive feedback I've received from these photoshoots were surprising but also very much appreciated. Above all though, I'm just glad I'm able to promote small businesses and support them even if the difference I make is relatively small!

How would you describe your modeling style?

"I like to support friends and small businesses and I also prefer to model for products which I believe in. Conveniently, most of the time these two preferences go hand in hand!"

What do you hope people get out of your modeling photos?

"I'm not a professional model nor am I a celebrity so the amount of influence I can exact is very limited. Nevertheless, I hope that it is because that I am ordinary that other people can picture themselves with the product I am showcasing better and put themselves in my shoes (literally) without having to transcend the celebrity barrier."

As an Asian model, what does a good fitting shirt mean to you?

"As an Asian male, finding a good fitting dress shirt without needing a tailor is extremely difficult. Most dress shirts from recognized retailers end up having extra fabric around the waist with longer sleeves and so I constantly find myself adjusting my dress shirts whenever I wear them. Wearing dress shirts by designers who recognize that Asian men have slightly different body proportions feels personal and saves me a trip to the tailor. Most importantly, a good fitting shirt off the rack like what NimbleMade has designed inspires confidence as I no longer need to worry about re-adjusting my shirt to align to my body. This confidence and peace of mind directly translates to my photos and allows me to fully believe in the product that I am showcasing."

What is your full-time gig? Any side hustles?

"I'm a full time graduate student and just about wrapping up my degree in Interdisciplinary Oncology. During this uncertain time of COVID-19 I've also taken up some volunteer work at screening centers and soup kitchens. As for my passions, I like to explore the world of photography and play a lot of tennis."
